In Search of a New Afghanistan — সুজিত সরকার | বইপোকা
Afghan society is a complex conglomeration of ethnic, O linguistic, religious and tribal lineages, more closely united at the local level, than under the banner of Afghan identity at the national level. This fault line has always been exploited by the neighbouring countries to advance their wider strategic interest. The fractured social capital can be attributed to the legacy of civil wars and external proxy interferences, over the past three decades. The country also suffers from a complex set of socio-political and socio-cultural undercurrents. Present day Afghanistan is a result of not only the unending civil wars but also the strategic blunders of its neighbouring countries, including the infamous Soviet occupation spanning the decade from 1979 to 1989.
